Whether Legacy season 5 had arrived, the series would have introduced the daughter of two major characters from The Vampire Diaries. Legacy is the second spin-off from the universe of The vampire diarywhich is adapted from the LJ Smith young adult novel series of the same name and began airing on The CW in 2009. Following the events of the series finale of the first spin-off The originals, Legacy follows the students and staff of Salvatore School, an educational institution for the gifted. The cast of the show includes Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, Chris Lee, Leo Howard, Ben Levin and The Vampire Diaries“Matthew Davis.
In the middle of the race Legacy season 4, the show suffered a huge amount of cancellations at The CW, which also saw the end of long-running popular shows like Riverdale and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Luckily, the show’s creators were given advance notice that this might be the case, so they were able to construct a fitting ending for the season 4 finale, which had now become the series finale. This included two major cameos from the vampire diary universe: a spectral visit from main character Hope Mikaelson’s deceased father, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and the return of Caroline Forbes (Candice King), who is in a relationship with Salvatore School principal Alaric Saltzman but was not still appeared on Legacy.
Talk with TVLine, Legacy creator Julie Plec has revealed part of their scrapped plan for Season 5. If the show had been allowed to move forward, it would have properly introduced Stephanie Salvatore, the daughter of two from The Vampire Diaries‘ Main characters: Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). Plec said his inclusion was “at the very top of our whiteboard.” Read his full quote below:
[Stephanie was] right at the top of our whiteboard as the character we intended to introduce, should the show move forward.
In my mind, Damon and Elena had children in our timeline. The way we alluded to her in the genius episode was like she was 12 or 13 years old. But in the inheritance timeline, their children were younger, probably toddlers.
Stephanie Salvatore is a character that until now has been considered non-canonical. She was spotted as a tween during the events of a Season 1 episode when a genius opened up an alternate universe, but Plec said the real Stephanie in the Legacy the timing would be quite different. They should have incorporated it either by doing “a jump in time or [playing] over time somehow“so they can make her interact with a”teen pedro.”
This continued connection to its parent franchise would certainly have thrilled Legacy fans, if this season had come to fruition. While the two vampire diary the cameos they got in the finale were certainly satisfying, a slower approach allowing the universe to expand even more would have been better. However, Plec might have the opportunity to bring Stephanie to life in a new series, as she is currently in talks with The CW for new iterations of the series. vampire diary universe.
