MCU: 10 Best Character Teases In Post

Namor finally enters the MCU with his role as a scene stealer in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Interestingly, it was confirmed that Namor was originally meant to be teased in the Black Panther post-credit scene before that idea was scrapped. This would have put him alongside other notable Marvel characters who have been introduced in this way.

The MCU has always loved hinting at what’s to come in the cinematic universe, including some big character reveals. From heroes like Blade that fans have waited years to see in the MCU, to villains like Thanos who have promised to be formidable enemies, this post-credits tease of MCU characters has given fans plenty to look forward to.

Ant-Man (2015)

Although Hope Van Dyne is a big part of the first Ant-Man, it’s not until the post-credits scene that her superhero alter-ego is introduced. After refusing to allow Hope to resume her old superhero mantle, Hank Pym relents and shows his daughter the prototype of her new costume as The Wasp.

Seeing the costume, Hope replies, “It’s about time,” which seems to reflect what many fans thought. As one of the founding members of the Avengers in the comics, it was a relief to see that she would be getting her due before too long.

Eternals (2021)

With all of the titular heroes introduced in the MCU, Eternals is always introducing characters in the post-credits scene. Dane Whitman locates the Ebony Blade, a sword passed down from his ancestors, but is interrupted by a voice asking if he is sure he wants to take it.

The voice was finally confirmed to belong to Blade, who will be performed by two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. While fans still haven’t gotten a glimpse of the vampire hunter in the MCU, the confirmation that he’s out there is enough to delight fans.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Despite being one of the prominent characters introduced in the Doctor Strange comics, Clea was left out of the first film. It looked like she wouldn’t be making an appearance in the sequel either until the post-credits scene came as a shock.

Not only was Clea revealed in the scene, but she was played by Oscar winner Charlize Theron. Keeping so much of the casting news under wraps is impressive, even for Marvel. It also teased his fun teaming up with Strange in the future as they seek to undo his meddling in the multiverse.

Adam Warlock

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

After suffering a humiliating loss to Guardians of the Galaxy, the post-credits scene for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 finds the sovereign leader Ayesha plotting revenge. She teases a powerful new weapon inside a golden cocoon she calls Adam.

The Guardians of the Galaxy films opened the door to cosmic Marvel characters, and Adam Warlock is one of the most exciting and powerful. Although James Gunn remained coy about whether this scene would pay off, Will Poulter is confirmed to be playing Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Starring Russell Crowe as Zeus, Thor: Love and Thunder introduced the Greek gods to the MCU and confirmed that they don’t have to be heroic. But while Zeus has appeared in the comics before, he helped tease another character who has much stronger ties to the Avengers.

Hercules is a popular member of the super-team, but the post-credit scene hints that he might have a conflict with Thor before finding his heroic path. As fun as seeing the character included in the MCU, Ted Lasso’s casting of Brett Goldstein is even better.

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

While some fans believe Wandavision foreshadowed Wanda’s later villainous turn, her very first appearance in the MCU hinted at her dark side. Wanda was introduced in the post-credit scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside her brother Pietro Maximoff.

Baron von Strucker is shown in reference to his test subjects, “the twins” before the audience sees Wanda and Pietro in their cells using their frightening powers. This immediately cemented them, and Wanda in particular, as formidable enemies for the Avengers.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Given the incredible success of the MCU, it’s easy to forget that there was a time when it seemed uncertain that they would actually deliver what they promised. The idea of all these iconic Marvel characters sharing the screen seemed weird, but it only got more exciting as the pieces fell into place.

During Iron Man 2’s post-credit scene, Agent Phil Coulson is seen traveling through the desert to find a mysterious object only for Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, to be revealed sitting at the bottom of a massive crater. This is when many fans began to wonder if the MCU could actually achieve this seemingly impossible dream.

Captain Marvel

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Thanos is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU and he proved it in Avengers: Infinity War. The Mad Titan delivered a devastating defeat to this film’s heroes, but the post-credits scene offered a glimmer of hope.

As Nick Fury becomes another victim of the Blip, he sends out a distress call from a pager that suddenly causes Captain Marvel’s symbol to flash. Even after losing so many heroes, this moment suggested there was someone out there who could even the odds.

Nick Fury

Iron Man (2008)

The very first post-credits scene in the MCU remains a classic simply for the possibilities it suggested. As Tony Stark returns home, he finds a mysterious figure waiting for him. Nick Fury comes out of the shadows to discuss something called the Avengers Initiative.

Samuel L. Jackson immediately nails Fury’s personality, and the character quickly changes everything in the story that fans watch. Iron Man was certainly an exciting single-player adventure, but it’s not until Fury is introduced that fans realize it’s part of a much larger world.

The Avengers (2012)

After all, The Avengers delivered an MCU crossover that thrilled fans and established Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as a nearly unbeatable team. However, the post-credits scene teased an opponent who would welcome the challenge.

Thanos has proven to be the powerful figure who helped Loki invade Earth. While his motivations remained a mystery, fans immediately knew the comic book storyline the MCU was teasing with the Mad Titan. And after six years, Thanos’ showdown with the Avengers has proven to be worth the wait.
