“Museums and Libraries for children”, the autumn season is served

The museums and civic libraries of La Spezia present the new calendar of days de “Museums and Libraries for children”, activities dedicated to children and parents for the autumn season 2022. A rich calendar of events that starts on Friday 30 September and that every weekend until the end of the year offers activities in the city’s museums and libraries. The program offers special events and activities, which allow you to have new laboratory and sensory experiences to get closer and closer to the museum containers, the works preserved in them and the world of libraries, transmitting the passion for the cultural heritage of the city. An opportunity to learn while having fun and to compare yourself with others. The Municipality of La Spezia thanks Coop Liguria for its support and collaboration.

Friday 30th September
Beghi Library 16:30 – 18:30
BIBLIOPRIDE WITH MOTHER LANGUAGE
The appointment with the national project Mamma Lingua is back. Workshop under the banner of multiculturalism. Readers from different countries will participate, bringing their experience and their culture, with a reading in the language that involves all the participants through the mimicry and musicality of the words. Games and themed manipulation activities will follow.

Beghi Library: Turn the page! October November December
It is an afternoon creative workshop for the little ones with the aim of familiarizing themselves with the book object, exploring, manipulating and observing the images, also using the pop-ups present. The laboratory offers the opportunity to introduce children to many types of books, genres, formats and books designed for special needs. A small themed creative recycling workshop will follow. In December, a special edition will be held which includes page turn in the “Night in the library” version.

Special Library of Art and Archeology: October November December
“Creative art workshop: If I were …”
The workshop involves viewing the paintings of artists carefully selected on the basis of the monographs on the shelf; each week a different artist from different eras will be chosen. The pictorial technique and the content of the works will be understood together. Finally, the creation of an elaborate personal, using the same material as the artist, copying the work or recreating one with one’s own imagination.

Cine-laboratory in the Media Library
It is an afternoon workshop for children (6 to 10 years old).
The workshop is divided into 2 parts: in the initial phase, the vision of the film is introduced through the manual creation of objects related to cinema in general. In the second part there will be the screening of a film dedicated to children.

DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME
As in a treasure hunt, with some clues in hand, children and their families will be led through the rooms of the Museum in search of paintings depicting characters of different ethnic groups. They look different, but they are all the same to us… let’s find out together!

DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME: LA SPEZIA YESTERDAY AND TODAY
The comparison between two images, different because they are more than a century apart, the same because – even if it often seems incredible! – represent the same glimpse of the landscape. To cover the distance between the two, the story of the urban, industrial, military changes that have transformed La Spezia into a modern city, which we will tell you about then challenging you to recreate your favorite city glimpse using various artistic techniques.

DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME … THE ANCIENT PEOPLES
The clothing of the ancient peoples reflects the differences in climate, culture and taste. We dress with fabrics and leathers of identical silhouettes and transform them into Romans, Ligurians or Egyptians.

CUSTOMS OF YESTERDAY VS CUSTOMS OF TODAY
Our daily life is marked by actions and ways of doing that even our ancestors performed every day, with different tools and timing. Together we will see if and how they have changed. Finally we will create a very fragrant artifact to use as soon as you arrive home!

ARTIST FLAGS
The journey begins in the project-room of the exhibition dedicated to the Il Gabbiano gallery, where 50 artists have each created their own flag, however, using the same material and the same measurements for their realization. Starting from the meaning of flag as a symbol, in which each one represents himself with different colors or shapes and realizing one in the laboratory activity, the participants will reflect on the sense of equality and diversity. Everyone’s imagination will produce a different flag from the other, because being the same does not mean looking alike, thinking or creating, in the same way and diversity becomes a creative tool for enrichment and exchange.

The path leads to the discovery of the portrait genre through play: starting from the observation of some paintings and sculptures, the subject represented will be subsequently reworked following different graphics and color techniques.

Ethnographic Museum 16
SECRET CITY
When was the building that houses the Ethnographic Museum built? Among hidden stairs, ancient stones and barely visible traces we will discover together the past history of the ancient oratory of San Bernardino. In the workshop phase we will reproduce the old oratory with the ancient walls.

MONSTER AFTERNOON
In the scariest castle decorated by monsters and vampires, you can have fun and make the crickets, monsters that populated the fantasies of the Middle Ages, owls, nocturnal animals that since the Greeks and Romans were considered symbols of omens, and participate in the magical practices of the Romans .

We learn the secret writing systems used by spies in ancient times between codes, nice inks and objects that “are not what they seem”. A fun workshop to send messages between friends or play with your parents.

MY WAY. DISCOVERING ARTISTIC TECHNIQUES
A path of discovery designed to feed the curiosity of young visitors, who, walking through the halls of the center, will confront themselves with the most disparate artistic techniques. During the workshop, manipulation and contamination will be the tools that will allow you to actively experiment with the countless creative possibilities using collage, decollage, frottage, painting, etc.

STORIES OF GLADIATORS
Who were the gladiators and how did they live? What were their weapons and different fighting techniques? At the end of the journey in ancient Rome, you will build a gladiatorial chariot for racing in the arena.

Ethnographic 16
SHELLS IN THE MOUNTAINS?
What are shells trapped in mountain rocks doing? And how did they get there? Come and discover the incredible history of the Earth enclosed in their journey by exploring the finds of the “Fossilia” exhibition. At the end of the exploration, everyone will be able to create their own fossil shell.

THE RED THREAD
The current exhibition entitled “The contemporaneity of the classic” aims to put the collection of Amedeo Lia in dialogue with that of Micky Wolfson represented by a selection of works from the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa. Children will be led to the observation of works present to decipher the red thread that binds the two collections.

CHRISTMAS IN THE MUSEUMS: SUNDAY 11 and SUNDAY 18 DECEMBER

ART NOUVEAU CHRISTMAS TREE!
Let us be inspired by the precious decorations that distinguish the splendid objects and architectures created between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to create special Christmas decorations that will make our tree unique.

A CHRISTMAS AMONG THE EGYPTIANS
Ancient Egyptian rebirth rituals took place in winter and involved the procession of sacred boats on the Nile River. We will retrace the purification festivals of the Egyptians and at the end we will make our ritual boat using raffia, wood and other materials.

BEST WISHES FROM AN ARTIST
Christmas is approaching, it’s time to think about a special birthday card. We will steal ideas from the artists on display. By mixing different techniques and materials we will use stencil printing, collages, optical cords, cardboard and fabric, each one will be able to create a truly unique greeting card, to make Christmas even more precious.

THE SEAL OF CHRISTMAS
With the three-dimensional molds inspired by ancient seals and the colored salt dough, we create cute place cards for party lunches, which can become small gifts to give to the people with whom you will share these happy moments.

The path will bring children into the magical Christmas atmosphere with a visit to the Museum rooms and a brilliant creative workshop that will end under a large Christmas tree.

MERRY CHRISTMAS … ETHNOGRAPHIC!
In the past, Christmas trees were decorated in a simpler way, but no less beautiful. Using pine cones, oranges, cloves and various poor and recycled materials we will create a particular decoration to make our homes a little more ethnographic!
