Tyler Perry’s latest feature, A Jazzman’s Blues, is streaming now on Netflix, which tells the story of a couple’s forbidden love complicated by deception and secrets in the 1950s. It features a cast impressive, featuring newcomers and supporting actors with significant television experience, with Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer playing the lead characters.
Boone and Pfeiffer are relatively new to Hollywood, with Pfeiffer being a major name on Broadway, thanks to Hamilton. The other supporting cast members are also familiar faces with experience in mainstream titles such as BlacKkKlansman, How To Get Away With Murder and Dynasty.

In A Jazzman’s Blues, Joshua Boone plays Bayou, the troubled protagonist and talented jazz musician who moves North after rampant racism and violence in the South.
Boone has made appearances in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Seven Seconds. Although as a lead actor, Premature is his only credit before Tyler Perry’s new film. Premature stars him as a mysterious character called Isiah who charms 17-year-old Ayanna (played by Zora Howard). The rest of the drama navigates the changes Ayanna goes through as she explores her new relationship the summer before college.

Leanne, one of the two protagonists of A Jazzman’s Blues, is played by Solea Pfeiffer. The character falls in love with Bayou, but her relationship is doomed, as her controlling mother wants her to marry a wealthy white man.
Although her work in film and television is still limited, Solea Pfeiffer is quite an accomplished stage actress, playing the lead role in Evita and Eliza Hamilton in Hamilton. She reprized the latter role in the Season 9 finale of Larry David’s long-running sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm. The latter focuses on a criminal law professor who finds herself embroiled in a murder plot with her students. Attempting to use her academic skills in real-life practice, Viola Davis’ Annalize Keating goes down a rabbit hole of constant twists and turns. Vann appeared in the fourth season as a recurring character, followed by a starring role in the next two as a powerful lawyer named Tegan Price. Tensions rise between the two when Tegan begins to fall for Annalise, adding more dramatic depth to Vann’s performance.
Austin Scott – Poses (2018-2021)

Bayou is not a single brother as he shares a contentious relationship with his brother Willie. Scott has appeared in several shorts before, but on mainstream television he is perhaps best known for his appearance in Pose.
