Synopsis: Marco Bellocchio’s film tells the story of the first great mafia repentant, the man who was the first to hand over the keys to get close to the Piovra, thus changing the fate of relations between the state and organized crime. Pierfrancesco Favino plays Tommaso Buscetta, the boss of the two worlds, according to a new perspective never studied before: he will be the “Traitor.” A story made up of violence and drama, which begins with the arrest in Brazil and the extradition of Buscetta to Italy, passing through the friendship with Judge Falcone and the unreal silences of the Mafia maxi-trial. And it is precisely when justice seems to have scored a point, that Cosa Nostra reminds Buscetta and Italy that his defeat is far away. The bomb explodes in Capaci and Buscetta raises the bar by mentioning Andreotti’s name: a tragic boomerang that will force him to flee Italy forever.
