“The Last of Us” and the time Pedro Pascal was a young vampire in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”

After passing through the successful “, premiered last sunday”, a new series based on the hit video games of the same name.

Asked about the reception he expects the series will have, the Chilean actor acknowledged that he is “nervous”, and it is not for less. Movies and series inspired by video games, including the “Lara Croft”, “Mortal Kombat” and “Resident Evil” sagas, as well as “Assassin’s Creed”, for example, have left much to be desired.

Of the 61 attempts by Hollywood to transform games into series and movies, only three managed to surpass 60% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Most, with the notable exceptions of the “Mario Bros,” “Pokemon” and “Sonic” stories, haven’t done too well in ratings or box office either.

However, Pascal feels “optimistic” since “The Last of Us” touches on all the emotional points that made the game such an unexpected success. The story revolves around Joel Miller, an American war veteran and construction worker who loses his only daughter at the start of a pandemic caused by a fungus, which turns his victims into zombies.
