The reboot of Blade promises the arrival of new monsters in the MCU

Expected for 2023, the synopsis of the new film devoted to the vampire hunter has leaked on the Internet. We also know the start date of filming.

In 2021, the Marvel schedule was loaded with Black Widow, Shang Chi, The Eternals and Spider-Man No Way Home (which won’t be the last Spider-Man film), but that’s nothing compared to that of 2022. Next year, we will notably find Doctor Strange, Thor and the people of Wakanda, despite filming currently suspended. In addition to Disney+ series Ms.Marvel, Secret Invasion, she hulk or Moon Knight, the program therefore promises to be very rich. But 2022 will also be the opportunity to learn more about a new MCU hero, Blade the vampire hunter.

Vampires Arrive in the Marvel Universe

It’s been official since the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, the character will fit well into the Cinematic Universe as actor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book: On the roads of the south). Scheduled for 2023, the film will act as a reboot and will be directed by Bassam Tariq. At the moment, the project was very mysterious. But it took, as often when it comes to a Marvel project, leaks to learn more. A first synopsis of the film has just leaked and it was quick to find itself online on social networks.

It does not reveal the final plot, but the first synopsis of the reboot of Blade was revealed: Himself half-human, half-vampire, the Daywalker Eric Brooks has honed his abilities to hunt down the undead who have long terrorized mankind. A human-vampire hybrid since his tragic birth, Blade has spent his long life seeking to rid the world of vampires like the one who killed his mother. Over the years, he’s mastered his own unique fighting style against monsters of all kinds.”

A character who has already appeared in the MCU

The message is clear: vampires will officially land in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After extraterrestrial creatures such as the Chitauris or the Deviants, the reboot dedicated to Blade will therefore be an opportunity to discover new monsters and thus expand the Marvel bestiary. Another key information thanks to this leak, the start date of filming. As the leak reveals, it should probably start in Atlanta (the usual place of production for Marvel films) at the end of the summer of 2022, which would therefore confirm a final release in 2023.

A few days ago, actor Delroy Lindo (Merger, MalcolmX) has joined the cast and there is no doubt that it should expand in the coming months. It would not be surprising, for example, to see Kit Harrington join the vampire hunter in the role of Dane Whitman. SPOILERS If uncredited, the voice heard in the second post-credits scene of Eternals (whose universe could extend to Disney +) was that of Blade, as confirmed by director ChloΓ© Zhao. The hunter asked Dane if he was really sure he wanted to grab the black knight’s sword, known for its curse.
