Twilight had to be done with these (other) actors in the roles of Edward and Bella (we shocked…)

Although it is practically impossible for us to imagine the protagonists of the saga of Twilight (i.e. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen) with faces other than those of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, it seems that initially the writer of the books dedicated to vampires had other actors in mind for the two main roles, as well as for most of the family of vampires. Well yes, if it was for Stephenie Meyer we probably would never have discovered the existence of Stewart and Pattinson and therefore, consequently, their love could never have blossomed on the set of the film, thus depriving us of one of the most beautiful and passionate stories between teen-celebs of the last 20 years years. So who did the author of the saga have in mind for the roles of Bella, Edward and all the rest of the vampire gang?

This was revealed by Meyer herself who, way back in 2007, had shared a long post on her blog where she put a blank list of actors that she would have hired for the shooting of the first film in the saga (which, by the way, would be start soon). That Stephenie was not particularly happy with the cast that she was going to compose for the first film of Twilight? Probably yes. “My opinions on the film do not interest anyone. I have no influence on what happens with the film. No one will ask me who I think should play Twilight” the writer regretfully admitted. As much as Meyer may have been annoyed by the fact that she was not called into question by the producers of the film, after reading her hypothetical cast we feel a great sigh of relief since her names, still today, they don’t have the same appeal as those of Kristen and Robert (so we had a good escape).

Before Pattinson and Stewart secured the roles of the two protagonists in fact the creator of Twilight hoped that Emily Browning (the Violet Baudelaire of Lemony Snicket – A Series Of Unfortunate Events) and future Superman Henry Cavill played the two main characters. What? Fortunately, according to what was reported, Browning refused the part while Cavill was immediately considered “too old” to play a teenager grappling with the first love impulses, classwork and snacks at four in the afternoon with schoolmates. The surprises, however, do not end here, since Meyer, among others, would have also wanted Rachel Leigh Cook as Alice Cullen (in place of Ashley Green), Cillian Murphy as the evil vampire James and, last but not least, that good-looking Charlie Hunnam as Carlisle Cullen. Yep, basically a whole other movie would have come out. But without Kristen and Robert that Twilight it would have been?
