On September 23, the FEFFS returns to Strasbourg to amaze, scare and quite simply honor genre cinema. With well-styled guests, special evenings and a program with little onions, as we told you about here. Even before the festival begins, it already has some surprises in store for us. One of them ? A Cinémix Nosferatu, organized at the Phare Citadelle on September 21st. And if you manage to overcome your fear of vampires, a surprise awaits you at the end of the article.
This year, the 15th edition of FEFFS will celebrate 100 years of Nosferatu the Vampire. The silent film by German director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau remains indeed the first adaptation of the famous novel by Bram Stocker. An unofficial adaptation, for lack of having obtained the rights to the novel. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the visual force of the work from marking generations of cinema fans, just like the interpretation of the immense – in every sense of the word – Max Schreck.
In 1979, Werner Herzog revived the myth of Dracula, this time with the rights, in his film Nosferatu, Ghost of the Night, with the unforgettable Klaus Klinski, but also Isabelle Adjani. Finally, 13 years later, Francis Ford Coppola will realize Dracula, with the brilliant performance of Gary Oldman.
An exceptional screening at the Phare Citadelle for the 100th anniversary of Nosferatu
From this mythical work by Bram Stocker have come out three films, the two most recent of which will be visible throughout the FEFFS. But if you want to discover the very first one, the one who started it all, tremble, because you will only have one chance. Indeed, before the start of the festival will be held an event not trivial: a special evening on Nosferatu the Vampire is planned at the Phare Citadelle, next Wednesday, September 21, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.. To get your tickets, it’s happening there.
Organized by the FEFFS, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Strasbourg and the Ososphere, the teams are determined to celebrate the centenary of the vampire as it should be. The screening of the 1922 film will also have a small particularity: the music of the film, produced by the artists Emmanuelle Parrenin, Quentin Rollet and Jérôme Lorichon.
To access the Phare Citadelle, beyond the tram or the bike, there will be the possibility of doing it by boat! Batorama offers two shuttles leaving from the Rohan Palace, at 5.45 p.m., then 6.45 p.m.. So if you feel like it, and you’ve hung it as well as a garlic necklace around your neck, get ready: we have a surprise for you.
