Turin and its dark atmosphere that cartoonists like

It is no coincidence that “Summer is ending” is a song by the Turin-based Righeira. The city knows how to inspire Baudelaire’s spleen, a subtle creative melancholy that inspires creatives, kind of horror stories.

In fact, Dylan Dog’s Turin screenwriters are numerous, such as Giancarlo Marzano, author of the recent “Nothing is forever”, designed by Giovanni Freghieri (Bonelli Editore): “It is a tribute to the Italian thriller, one of the most popular genres abroad thanks to masters of popular cinema such as Mario Bava, Sergio Martino and, above all Dario Argento, very close, as is known, to Turin and also the writer, four years ago, of a Dylan Dog book. But it is also a homage in the homage: the mysterious and ruthless assassin in black clothes and with a hat recalls that of a classic Dylan Dog book, “The crimes of the mantis”, released thirty years ago, in August 1992 and scripted by Claudio from Turin Chiaverotti where, located in Dylandoghian London, a place that made the history of Turin culture and entertainment, the Hiroshima Mon Amor, appeared in its historic location in via Belfiore. It will not be just a horror thriller, but a great story of impossible love and revenge, to give chills in this still very hot end of summer ››.

Also in 85 of “Summer is ending”, the erotic-sci-fi heroine Druuna made her debut, created by the master of comics Paolo Eleuteri. The volume ‹‹Speranze›› (Lo Scarabeo, Turin publisher) written by Alessio Schreiner and drawn by Turin-based Joseph Viglioglia (signed by Eon) is a prequel to the series. “I can’t believe I was the first after its creator to draw Druuna, which I discovered as a kid in L’Eternauta magazine – says Viglioglia. – Confronting a real teacher like Paolo made my wrists tremble, I tried to metabolize it and live the experience naturally. It was, in a certain sense, like going back to school, studying a technically highly complex style of drawing but still in my heart ››. Druuna lives in a degraded world that she however faces with courage, trying to take pleasure whenever possible, here she is different, more naive and modest. “She is younger, even naive, unaware of all the adventures and misadventures that Paolo will make her experience in the following chapters of the series ››. Also on the Dylan Dog staff is Andrea Cavaletto from Turin, author of the dialogues of ‹‹Within›› (Inkiostro), the first work of the young and talented designer Elena Chiappini. <

Everything written by Cavaletto (and drawings by Fabiano Ambu) is the new issue of Dampyr, “Killer Hospital” (Bonelli) on newsstands from 2 September. The vampire hunter goes with his companions to the abandoned hospital in Hovrino, Russia, which is haunted by the walking dead. “It is a huge hospital that has never been used, surrounded by sinister fame – says Cavaletto. – It is said that secret experiments took place there. They demolished it when we were making the story and so we have partially modified it: it will be demolished thanks to the intervention of our heroes ››. And a sign of the comics liveliness of the area will be the party of the comic publishing house Cronaca di Topolinia at its headquarters in Rivoli, on 8 October.
